I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. In the recent past I completed a masters degree in Religious studies after many years of interest in the area so I have read many books on Karma. I have to say this book stood out as one of the better ones I have read. Definitely worth a read!
Reading this book brought me back to my college classes about the subjects I mentioned in the title. Other than giving a welcome wave of nostalgia, I like that this provides a quick reference to principles of karma in one place.
We hear about karma everywhere but I found in this book that the majority of people throwing this word around don't have a clue of its real meaning. In this book the author explains everything you will ever need to know about what is really karma and how it works!
I love learning more about concepts that are used in our everday lives. I always hear people use the word karma and I myself have used it a handful of times. It is interesting to read about how different religions use it, as well as, how pop culture interprets or use it.
Often you’ll heard the use of karma as a concept of retribution. When you are angry with your friend or your classmate, we often wish karma would get back on them. However, our understanding of the concept is very superficial. The concept is entrenched into deeper psychological and religious context, according to the book. If you want to learn more not only the general understanding about karma but also its context in philosophy and religion, you may want to get a copy of this book.
I did not really expect to be enlightened when I open the first few pages of this book, but that is exactly what happened. Although this book looks like a light reading material and is written in simple language, the wealth of information you will derive from it is awesome. The author is right, most of us throw around the word karma without really understanding it. This book gives an explanation of karma from different perspectives (from Hinduism to Christianity) that gives a reader a clear picture of what it is from where he/she is coming from.
